Internal Staff Idea and Feedback Program

Have a program where your staff can send their ideas - big and small, frivolous and serious - to create a pool of ideas where potential 'real' work can be put into them. Use this for inspiration and letting the staff know you value every little idea they may have and if it's a viable and possible one to work on then allow them to work on it. Have a field where they have already identified particular skill sets that would be good to get the project up and running so that other staff may be able to lend their help where they see fit. Great way of tapping into your staff gold mine. Who knows what other business streams may come of it?

Also use this as a way for your staff to provide feedback on the circumstances and environment of the workplace. If they're unhappy with something then make it a place where they can post this and know it will be seen by the big boss.

Scrapbookland

A place that's like Lollipops Playland but instead it's to do with scrapbooking and it's for parents and kids. Caters to different levels of play time, from babies and toddlers (felt walls to stick felt pieces, balls, bouncy castles with the felt wall, large pop-out books, soft felt playground with paper doors and brad hinges) to kids, teens and adults (scrapbooking area with free materials, adjacent to a scrapbooking store where you can go in and out to purchase (individual or packs) things for your scrapbook you would be making in the scrapbooking area, weekly specials and free stuff, tutorials, people on-hand to help out, separate rooms for individual, quiet space to work etc).

Create a Twitter account (or groups?) where people can post their ideas for anything. Accumulate enough to be able to create keyword alerts of some kind and approach businesses who may be interested in 'plugging in' to innovative ideas. Be the middle man where if a business likes an idea then they may contact the person for the rights. Businesses pay a low fee for 'plugging in'.

Have a group of 'ideas' people who specifically come up with ideas for companies as well.

I have crap loads of draft emails in my draft box and keep forgetting to check them and send. Gmail (because that's what I use of course) should have a pop-up box type thing that prompts the person (sort of like the 'do you want to save this?' prompt) to set a time and date that they would like a notification for the particular email they were/are working on for future use. For example, I start to reply on an RSVP when I suddenly get called away from the computer. I haven't got time to finish it but need to send it before a certain date. So to make sure I don't forget, I ask Gmail to notify me in regards to this particular email if I haven't sent in by a particular date I set.

On-Hand Pre-Approved Vehicle

There's so many people I've heard of who have failed a test due to their vehicles not passing inspection. So why don't the testing stations have a vehicle on had for these cases? If they aren't being done in for their driving skills then they shouldn't be barred for taking their test if there's another vehicle available for them to use! This option should be available to those who need it.

Now whether or not they should be billed again is another matter.

But for now, people, let them sit the damn test without having to wait another month for a chance of a resit!

Instead of the usual run of the mill music videos, get an artist to donate a song of theirs to create for hearing AND deaf people! This could be a project of some sorts…(how to make it as a fundraiser?)

Create a production company that specialises in sign and body interpretation of songs for music videos aimed at both hearing AND deaf people. (How would we be able to convey rhythm and beats…? Try to come up with something that will not only send the song lyrics out, but also the tune, rhythm and beat…visual beat?)

People will be able to plug in their I-Pod into the car and if they have screens in the back it'll automatically come up with the visual 'music'
It might eventually be able to move on to vibrating chairs…

A way to look at other people's desktop live. Like a live camera filming their screen. Maybe it can be done through a site like youtube, but instead of videos, it'd be other people's screens. Thing is the other person will need to send you a link to the live screening of their desktop. Remote viewing for computer troubleshooting. You'd be able to sell it to computer companies and help desks.

I was on the bus the other day and thinking about how much I like going on public transport because of:

* the people;
* the ability to sleep/read/listen to music; and
* the scenery, new places

But one thing that really stands out for me is being able to meet new people.

Then I got thinking about how most memorable (if not all) trips I've had was actually because of the people I met and interacted with.

So get this, what if the bus companies actually paid people to go on their bus trips to interact with people and stuff? Make the trip fun and memorable for the passengers?

They'd be put there as plants y'know (not the nature kind either, get my drift - again?) and able to gauge people's feelings on the bus experience and what makes it an experience.

I guess it could also be another way of surveying people.

Clean-up Code Software

So I've been having problems with HTML code and WYSIWYG. When I use the one that starts with W, it puts a lot of superfluous code into the text version and messes it all up. Very untidy.

There should be some sort of software (like the spelling on that's my comp...what is that?) that allows the user to put code through and highlight the code that doesn't need to be there, i.e. it won't affect the look and functionality of the page (essentially the page itself) so you can delete it.

Back from Holiday - Computer function

Have some sort of function where you can tell your computer that you're back from holiday and what were the things you had been working on last. There could be an option where you can put the date of when you left into the computer and it brings up all the documents you were actively working on during that last week or month.

You would then be given an option to create a task list of things to do.

Or if you're even more efficient enough, you could have a 'Going on Holiday' function where your computer then takes you through steps of wrapping projects up and sending them on their way, and putting a list of on hold projects for you.

This could also be synchronised with your emails so that a message could be sent out and depending on who it is, you could even personalise the message to tell individuals whether or not to keep emailing or not.

Heaps of things to think about.

Culture Shock - Investigative Reporting

This could be a TV series or an article series, even book series, whatever.

But just think, like all those travel shows and travel articles, and reality tv shows, you could investigate what it's like to be from a different culture. Yes, similar to the 'Wife Swap' (dumb) and 'Ticket to the Tribes', but instead of strangers and foreigners being introduced into the unknown, how about 'pretending/acting' that you are actually from that place/culture/country and actually living it. Walking the talk.

Maybe for a few months or so, but living it so that even those you interact with don't know you're from somewhere else.

And then report on it from a first hand perspective.

This would be an interesting way of seeing the 'inside' perspective but still from an outside one, and being exposed to what strangers or foreigners would otherwise not see.

The only challenge would be to be in character at all times, to also put up with what is the norm of the culture/country you are in which could be very mild, or downright dangerous...(I'm thinking Third World countries here).
I guess you could probably be BASICALLY living like...a spy.

NGO - The Boardgame

We've been playing Leverage: The Game of Business for the past couple of nights and that gave me the idea of capitalising on that as well as adding value where value is needed the most.

How about creating a similar board game on NGO's, or sucessful organisation running, or saving the world (why not?)? Leverage is about learning the basics of business and how to grow. Fast.

So with that in mind, there could be some potential in creating a similar game...and with marketing it could be pretty good.

Sub-Profiles - Myspace, Friendster, Facebook

I was thinking how I have so many profiles - my own personal ones and then the couple of ones for my aliases - and I was thinking how annoying it was to sign into one, change what I need to, sign out, then sign into another one, sign out, and then sign in again to the other one.

Annoying.

So why not have a parent profile (i.e. personal RL profile) that you can connect your other profiles to (i.e. Thenes, Rerenga) which would also mean you only have to sign in with one name, one time, but be able to edit and check all other comments for your other profiles.

You could also have the option of showing your other alias profiles to all, to your friends, or to none. You would also have the same option for your sub-profiles.
You can also give permission to individual friends to view whichever profiles you want them to etc.

IPOD Charge Stations

There are heaps of Cyber Cafes around and I was just thinking, while we were away we used a lot of Cyber Cafes and uploaded pics and inserted our flash drives and charged IPOD Shuffles with their computers. If they were smart enough they would cordon off a few of their computers with USB capabilities and charge more. Or even set up USB stations solely for the purpose of charging things like IPOD Shuffles and stuff.

Maybe later on in the future this could be implemented.

Synchronising Email Accounts

I've been annoyed at how many times I have to open up one account and either send or copy and paste a drafted email from that account to another account and how it would be better if all the Draft folders of all my 3 main email accounts were the same.

With the option of a drop down from-however-many-email-accounts-you've-added-to-your-one-(and if you're like me - all)-account menu that let's you say you've sent the email from one account when you've really actually sent it from another - has been really cool. Really helps with a few of the things I've had to send. And when one server is down for example, I can always go to another (in one case my Gmail wouldn't send properly so I had to send it from my hotmail but I still put the 'from' as my gmail addy)

So now someone should create an option where you can synchronise your Drafts folders between all your accounts.

"Find your pair!" - Forum/IRC Game

You get people who want to play to post in the thread saying they want in. Have a closing date. Then PM them numbers/objects/animals/whatever and tell them to say find their pair. Like memory.

It's played on IRC and people take turns to pick a pair of people, if he gets a match, he goes again etc.
And those people who have been paired up are out of the game. So whoever is the last one standing wins!

EXAMPLE:

This would be a one-stop place for all the different kinds of layouts of ALL sites on the web. Yes, it's extensive, expensive, exorborant and all those other exes, but c'mon. I'm hating how I know what I want but have to go looking for it.

Maybe Google can do a search engine on website layouts...? So I just type in whether or not I want exaples of a right columned site or left columned site. Or examples of mouseovers etc.

Yeah...I'd reckon only Google would be able to do that...there'd be heaps of options too like if you're only looking for one certain aspect of a site, or different aspects all in one site kind of thing...yeah!

This is meant to be funny and all, but it's like a security measure too. Private Eye type of thing.

You could even do recommendations on how to keep from getting your name out there, or watching what things come up for it too...

There can be heaps of little widgets and add type of things on the site with ideas on what to do, what others hope to do, what others have done, what they got out of it, did it work, did it not, what's the story behind the act of kindness, is it just a random act or not etc.

HEAPS. Just take the time to think on it and you might have something good come out of it.

It might not even be a social network thing, it can just be a website...hmmm.

Y'know how you can put your contacts into groups? Yeah, well they should create a hidden groups type of thing where there's a whole different section of groups that are protected by a password - for security.

Well, it can come in handy for when you want to group your contacts into...say, 'Potential Dates'. And for those players out there, 'Played', 'Playing', 'Wanna Play'. You know what I mean.
And you'll also know what I mean when I'm saying it's why it should be 'hidden' and protected.

Yes, if you really think about it, there are other reasons why but I just don't know myself and can't be bothered really thinking on it yet.

MySpace - Events Site

This would solely be for events. I'm thinking a whole individual MySpace site for it. But you can add and connect with your MySpace profile anyway (which leads me to think that you can have whole MySpace personalised homepage with all your MySpace sections! Y'know like a blurb and link to your profile, and the rest of the page filled with your MySpace events and music stuff - all the different MySpace sections that you're in to - I know there are different sections...)

Anyways, went a bit off tangent there.

But yeah, kind of like MySpace bands, but dedicated to events that happen annually and probably even events that are one-off. But so people can link into who's going and bands can also link to it to say they're performing, lots of discussions can take place, hooking up of course but there's gotta be user-security with that...take responsibility for your own interactions.

Reviews, updates, tips on what to bring, what happened last time (if there was anything worth noting last time - if there was a last time!) and all those other things that you would normally put on a normal even website really, but this would for the users and networking purposes.
Interaction with the crowd, creating that relatedness even before they get there.

Photography - Parihaka International Peace Festival Connection

This is a specific type of idea for the Parihaka Peace Festival, and really it's to do with marketing. Get people with all the different kinds of coloured wristbands clasping hands and take a photo. For blue get as young a person as you can, for red as old a person, for green in the male/female, for gold female/male, for pink maybe a youngster.
So different generation, oh and different skin colouring would be good too. Just to show the diversity of all who attend the festival. Pulling on those emotive strings.

Computer Software - Breach the Gaps Security Software

A software that fills in the gaps that your current security software does. Which means you'd have to have an existing security software like McAfee and Norton and AVG and avast!, but not all of them have total security. So this could be a complimentary software that adds value where value is needed.

Of course being compatible with all security software is near to the point of being impossible with all the different aspects the software creators put into them (so it's exclusive to the point where it'll go to war with other uploaded software), but hey, I can dream can't I?

Forum Game - Do you dare?

This is a game where the first person who is posting is given a word/sentence by the next person posting to add into a post that they will have to make in another section of the forum of the 2nd poster's choice. Like so:

1st poster - (is the one 'dared')
2nd poster - Your sentence is: I are liger! And you have to post it in the Tales By the Fireside forum!
3rd poster - And your sentence is: Voldemortee. And you have to post it in the Announcements forum!

And so on and so forth. I'm still thinking of ways that people can check to see if they've done the dare, and I'm thinking it'll have to be the third poster who will have to check when they post...

Volunteering Organisation

An organisation where volunteers of all sorts of different events (most likely recreational events) can register themselves and pay a yearly membership fee of $$ and become a member of this said volunteering organisation where it's members are recognised as individuals who are sincere in their volunteering and only require food and free pass into the event. Like WOOFing I guess.

Or if they have already paid for their ticket to the event, the events organisers can - if needed - ask if there are any [organisation's name] volunteers in the vicinity and ask for their help. They will then have to show their membership card and be allowed to help backstage and whatnot on a 'need-to' basis where the pay-off is that they get to go backstage/behind the scenes.

This would be for people who like to have a hand in events and like to see what goes on 'behind the scenes'.

Well, even better is using your headphones and beign able to change them into neckphones. There'll be a switch and volume control on the cord part. The switch will be used to switch from headphone to neckphone use and back again. Take into account: Ideas - first in first serve? Who to pay and how? Competitiveness. Fraud. Scamming. RL ideas harder (i.e. if you're not into online craze, you have no chance to compete for ideas) Copyright issues etc.
