Have a program where your staff can send their ideas - big and small, frivolous and serious - to create a pool of ideas where potential 'real' work can be put into them. Use this for inspiration and letting the staff know you value every little idea they may have and if it's a viable and possible one to work on then allow them to work on it. Have a field where they have already identified particular skill sets that would be good to get the project up and running so that other staff may be able to lend their help where they see fit. Great way of tapping into your staff gold mine. Who knows what other business streams may come of it?
Also use this as a way for your staff to provide feedback on the circumstances and environment of the workplace. If they're unhappy with something then make it a place where they can post this and know it will be seen by the big boss.
